Sophomore Allie Branum scored the game's only goal with only seven seconds left in regulation to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Hood College in Frederick, Md., on Saturday. The Eagles improve to 6-1-1 on the season.
In a game that saw the Eagles lead in shots, 20-1, the guests were unable to connect for a score until Branum worked through the defense from the right side and connected during the final countdown, giving the Eagles their second straight 1-0 victory in thrilling fashion.
UMW led in corner kicks, 9-1, and sophomore Sara Armor gained the shutout without recording a save. Hood's Alexis Andrukat had seven saves for the Blazers.
Mary Washington will return to action on Tuesday when they visit Catholic University at 4:30 p.m.
