UMW Women's Soccer Falls at #3 Messiah on Wednesday Night, 5-0

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team fell to third-ranked Messiah College, 5-0, on Wednesday night in Grantham, Pa. The Eagles fall for the first time this season, and stand at 4-1 on the season.

Mary Washington trailed, 1-0, at halftime, after Mackenzie Clapper scored in the 31st minute. In the second, the Falcons erupted for four scores, including a pair from Nikki Elsaesser.

Messiah led in shots, 26-5, and in corner kicks, 5-1. UMW goalkeeper Charlotte Owens had seven saves for the Eagles, while Audra Larson had three for Messiah.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit Meredith College at 2:00 p.m.
