UMW Women's Soccer Tops Rowan, 2-1, in Sunday Action

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team scored a goal in each half to defeat Rowan University, 2-1, on Sunday in the final game of the UMW Classic. The Eagles improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Profs opened the scoring on a goal from Erika Suhl on a Victoria Camera assist at 8:34, but the Eagles tied the score with a penalty kick goal from Jenna Abraham at 15:37. The game remained tied through halftime. The Eagles found the game winner from junior Lizzie Weast in the 48th minute, with an unassisted tally.

Rowan led in shots, 11-8, and in corner kicks, 1-0. Senior goalie Charlotte Owens made three saves for the Eagles, while Carleigh Trivino had three saves for Rowan.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Messiah College at 6:30 p.m.
