Frostburg State Tops UMW Women's Soccer, 3-1, at Homecoming

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Frostburg State University on Saturday for homecoming. The Eagles fall to 8-9 on the season, and 3-5 in Capital Athletic conference action.

After nearly an entire first half with no scoring, the Bobcats got on the board in the last five minutes of the first half, as Stephanie Fazenbaker scored with 4:30 remaining, and the Bobcats carried a 1-0 lead to intermission.

The Eagles responded out of halftime, however, as senior Erin Reynolds scored unassisted 4:41 into the second to tie the score at one. The Bobcats took the lead for good at 58:00 on a Nicole gernert score, and added an insurance tally 2:22 later on a goal from Adriana Graham.

Frostburg led in shots, 11-7, and UMW led in corner kicks, 5-3. Sara Armor had five saves in goal for the Eagles, while Katie Smith had four saves for FSU.

Mary Washington will close the regular season on Tuesday at Southern Virginia University at 3:30 p.m.
