VIDEO: RADER'S GAME WINNER

Sophomore Michelle Gibbons opened the scoring, and senior Tina Rader provided what would be the game winner as the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team defeated Marymount University, 2-1, on Tuesday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

Gibbons opened the scoring at 34:47, taking a cross from Jenna Abraham and finding the net for the lone goal of the first half.

In the second, Rader placed a one touch perfectly inside the near post off freshman Maryfay Jackson's corner kick at 75:15. The Saints cut the deficit to 2-1 with a score at 82:15, but could draw no closer.

"We just went through the ball, as coach was telling us to do earlier this week", said Rader of her game winner. "We really needed this one to keep our tournament hopes alive."

The Eagles led in shots, 19-4, and in corner kicks, 12-2. Freshman Sara Armor made one save in goal for UMW, who will visit Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
