UMW Women's Soccer Falls in OT to York, 3-2, in CAC Matinee

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but fell, 3-2, in overtime to York College on Saturday at a rainy Battleground. The Eagles fall to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in league play.

Mary Washington started the scoring early, as senior Erin Reynolds scored her 11th goal of the season at 5:49 on a pass from Leah Roth. Roth then scored at 16:56 on a Reynolds pass to put the Eagles up, 2-0.

The Spartans scored at 32:02 on a goal from Taylor Folk to cut the deficit to 2-1 at halftime. Clare Chatham scored the lone goal of the second half at 50:12 to send the game to overtime. In the extra period, Flok scored on a Kirsten Good pass just 44 seconds into the period for the winner.

York led in shots, 12-9, and in corner kicks, 7-4. Freshman Sara Armor had four saves for the Eagles, while Stevi Lukacz had two saves in 70 minutes of relief to gain the win.

The eagles will return to action on Tuesday when they host Marymount University at 4:00 p.m.
