UMW Women's Soccer Tops Wesley, 3-0, in CAC Action

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team scored three times in the first 15 minutes to blank Wesley College, 3-0, on Wednesday night in Dover, Del. The Eagles improve to 6-6 overall, and 1-2 in Capital Athletic Conference action.

The Eagles got things started early in the rain Wednesday night, as sophomore Lizzie Weast scored just 45 seconds into the contest. Sophomore Jessica Bednarcik scored at 10:03 unassisted, and Leah Roth scored on a Tina Rader assist at the 14:09 mark.

Mary Washington led in shots, 28-7, and in corner kicks, 6-3. Junior Alyssa Goodwin made three saves and Sara Armor one in goal for UMW. Samantha Brannigan had 15 saves for Wesley.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, hosting first-place York College in another CAC matchup starting at 1:00 pm.
