UMW Women's Soccer Falls to Salisbury, 1-0, in CAC Contest

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Salisbury University on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.

After a quiet first half in which each team had just one quality chance at a score, things opened up a bit in the second, with the Eagles holding a 7-6 shot advantage. Salisbury scored the game's lone goal at 66:22, when Logan O'Meara induced UMW keeper Alyssa Goodwin off her line and was able to create space and finish for an unassisted score.

UMW had several chances, but sent quality shots wide and high. Salisbury led in shots for the day, 10-7, and each team had three corner kicks. Goodwin had four saves for the Eagles, who will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Wesley College at 7:00 p.m. in another CAC showdown.
