UMW Women's Soccer Falls in Final Minute of OT at Drew, 2-1

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Drew University on Saturday afternoon, falling in the final seconds of the second overtime. UMW drops to 3-4 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, it was the Eagles who started the scoring, as senior Excy Herrera netted her first goal of the year on an assist from Maryfay Jackson at 58:05. Drew answered at 76:29 on a Katie O'Keefe score.

Drew found the game winner with just seven seconds left in the second overtime, as Liz Loiodice stole a pass from the UMW defense and scored for the game winner.

Drew led in shots, 28-12, but just an 11-8 lead in shots on goal, and in corner kicks, 7-1. Freshman Sara Armor had nine saves in goal for the Eagles in her first start.

The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday when they host Randolph-Macon College at 4:30 p.m.
