Reynolds' Hat Trick Leads UMW Women's Soccer Past Emory & Henry

VIDEO: REYNOLDS' THREE GOALS

Senior Erin Reynolds scored three second half goals in leading the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Emory & Henry College in the opening game of the UMW Soccer Classic. The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, Reynolds wasted little time getting the hosts on the board in the second, scoring just 3:33 into action off a cross from Jessica Bednarcik to Lizzie Weast, who left the ball for Reynolds for a header in front of the net.

Eight minutes later, Reynolds carried the ball down the left, shot hard and above the Wasps' goalkeeper to up the lead to 2-0. Reynolds capped the day with a goal at 87:22 on a cross from Maryfay Jackson.

The Eagles led in shots, 21-3, and had 10 corner kicks to two for Emory & Henry. Junior Alyssa Goodwin made one save in UMW's goal, while Sarah Jerome had nine saves for the guests.

UMW will return to action on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. when they host Washington & Lee University in the final game of the Classic.
