YORK, Pa. - CAC playoff champion Frostburg State and
regular-season champ Salisbury each placed six players on the 2012
all-conference women’s soccer team while Mary Washington
added five more to the 25-player squad.
The FSU contingent was led by junior forward Adria Graham, who was
named the CAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year for the
second-straight season. The two-time first-team all-star is the
fifth player in conference history to win the Women’s Soccer
Player of the Year award at least twice.
Bobcats joining Graham on the All-CAC top unit this year are
sophomore forward Stephanie Fazenbaker, junior midfielder Courtney
Mack and senior defender Erin Proctor. Second-team all-conference
honors went to senior defender Liz Seligman and freshman midfielder
Brooke Longo. Seligman is a three-time second-team all-star while
Proctor earned her second-straight first-team nod.
Also honored by the coaches was FSU mentor Brian Parker, who picked
up his first CAC Coach of the Year award after leading the Bobcats
to second place in the regular-season standings and the playoff
crown.
Salisbury led the CAC with five players on the All-CAC first team,
including senior forwrad Sarah Pfundstein, senior midfielders Casey
Hafford and Erin Mooney, senior defender Bonnie Sandone and
sophomore goalie Michelle Conrad. The Gulls added a second-team
all-conference selection by freshman defender Tabitha Brown. Conrad
was a first-team all-star and Rookie of the Year in 2011 while
Mooney and Pfundstein are All-CAC choices for the second time.
Mary Washington was tabbed for five All-CAC positions, including
forward Jessica Bednarcik, who was selected as a second-team
all-star and the 2012 Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year.
Bednarcik is the fourth Eagle to win the Rookie of the Year award
and the first since Sarah Tryon was honored in 2007.
Junior forward Erin Reynolds, senior defender Emmalee Denkler and
sophomore goalie Charlotte Owens earned first team All-CAC honors
for UMW while junior midfielder Tina Rader joined Bednarcik on the
second team. Reynolds and Rader both return to the post-season
squad from the 2011 All-CAC team.
St. Mary’s and York each earned three all-conference berths
while Wesley picked up a pair.
SMC junior midfielder Yvonne Latour gained all-conference
recognition for the third-straight year while senior forward Tori
Eskay and sophomore forward Liz Mosher were second-team picks.
Eskay finished her career as a three-time All-CAC honoree.
Three Spartans were named to the All-CAC second team this year -
sophomore forward Elizabeth Bunn, junior defender Dale Mason and
sophomore keeper Melanie Glessner. It was the first All-CAC
recognition for each player.
Wesley sophomores Kelly Edmunds and Chelsi Biener both gained
second-team recognition from the CAC coaches for the first time in
their respective careers. Edmunds led the Wolverines on the attack
line while Biener is a midfielder.
