Reynolds, Rader Lead UMW Women's Soccer Past Marymount, 5-0

Sophomore forward Erin Reynolds (Oakton, Va., Oakton) scored two goals and added two assists and sophomore Tina Rader (Springfield, Va., West Springfield) added a pair of goals to lead the University of Mary Washington to a 5-0 win over Marymount University on Tuesday in Capital Athletic Conference action on Tuesday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 7-3-1 overall and 2-2 in CAC play.

Reynolds opened the scoring at 18:40 on an assist from Emmalee Denkler (Arlington, Va., Yorktown). Denkler sent the ball forward through two defenders and Reynolds found the nets to give UMW the lead. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

The Eagles opened the second half with a better focus, and that translated to three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Sophomore Madison Hanley (Virginia Beach, Va., First Colonial) scored on a cross from Reynolds in the 50th minute, and Reynolds scored unassisted five minutes later after taking a deflection off a defender.

Rader scored her first goal in the 59th minute on a cross from Amy Olson (Crofton, Md., Arundel), and added another on a header on a pass from Reynolds at 86:34.

The Eagles led in shots, 17-6, and in corner kicks, 8-1. Senior Tina Brehm (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) had two saves in 59 minutes and Charlotte Owens (Fairfax, Va., Robinson) added one save in 31 minutes for the Eagles in goal.

Mary Washington will return to action next Wednesday at St. Mary's College at 4:00 p.m. in another CAC contest.
