Clark's Goal Lifts UMW Women's Soccer Past Methodist

FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Sophomore Becky Clark (Doylestown, Pa., Central Bucks West) scored the game's only goal at 24:50 to give the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Methodist University on Saturday at the Battleground. With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-3-3, and surpass last season's win total.

Clark's goal came after the initial UMW shot was saved by the Methodist goalkeeper. The loose ball caromed to Clark, who slid the ball into goal for the lone score of the day.

Mary Washington outshot Methodist, 9-5, and had seven corner kicks to none for the Monarchs. Tina Brehm had three saves in recording the shutout for the Eagles, while Kasey Nichols had five saves for Methodist.

The Eagles will host North Carolina Wesleyan College on Wednesday at 4:00 in the final regular season home game of the year.
