UMW Women's Soccer Falls at #21 TCNJ, 5-0
Ewing, NJ -  The College of New Jersey women’s soccer team extended its winning streak to modest five games as the Lions grounded the University of Mary Washington by the score of 5-0 on Sunday at TCNJ’s Soccer Complex.

The win put the 21st-ranked Lions at 12-1 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 8-3-3.

The Lions got rolling right from the start as junior Casey Caruso (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) crashed the far post and knocked in a direct kick off of the foot of Nikki Migliori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) giving the hosts a 1-0 lead 1:38 into the game.

TCNJ doubled that advantage midway through the half as junior Briann McDonough (North Arlington, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) carried the ball up the near side on a partial break and tucked a shot into the far corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.

McDonough kept things going for the Lions in the final frame as she netted her second of the game on an assist from Caruso.

Sophomore Brittany McGinley (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) added her first goal of the season midway through the period and freshman Allyson Anderson (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) capped off the win with her fourth as the Lions remained undefeated at home this season.

Senior keeper Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and Samantha Iamurri (Logan Township, NJ/Kingsway) combined on the shutout for the Lions.

For the Eagles, Tina Brehm (Springfield, VA/Robert E. Lee) finished with nine saves, while Grace Rosales (Vienna, VA/Madison) added three.

Mary Washington has the week off returning to the field on Saturday at home welcoming Methodist University for a 1 p.m. tilt.
