UMW Women's Soccer Falls at #19 Salisbury in OT

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 dec ision in overtime at 19th ranked Salisbury University on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference play. The Eagles fall to 8-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in league play.

The Eagles jumped ahead first, as sophomore Bridget Dooley (Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus) scored at 37:33, as her long shot was deflected by the Salisbury keeper but went into goal. Salisbury tied the score at 40:35 on a free kick by Hillary Grove, sending the game to halftime tied at one.

The game stayed scoreless until Christina Eury scored on a header at 98:42, giving the Sea Gulls the victory. Salisbury outshot the Eagles, 20-9, and had four corner kicks to five for UMW. Tina Brehm (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) had 10 saves for the Eagles, who will visit St. Mary's College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in another CAC contest.
