Olson, Herold Pace UMW Women's Soccer Past Wesley, 5-0

Sophomore forward Amy Olson (Crofton, Md., Arundel) scored three goals and freshman forward Sunny Herold (Palmyra, Va., Fluvanna) added two goals and one assist to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Wesley College on Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 5-1-1 overall, and move to 2-0 in CAC play.

Olson opened the scoring for the Eagles at 17:02 on an assist from Bridget Dooley (Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus), the first of her two assists on the day. Herold scored her first tally of the day at 21:11 on a feed from Nicole Dierkes, and UMW held the 2-0 lead to halftime.

Herold moved the lead to 3-0 at 52:15 with an unassisted score. Olson scored her second goal at 83:17 on a feed from Herold, and then capped the scoring at 84:22 on an assist from Dooley.

Mary Washington led in shots, 17-5, while Wesley had four corner kicks to none for the Eagles. Sophomore goalkeeper Tina Brehm (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) had two saves for Mary Washington, while Sydney Kahan had three saves for Wesley.

The Eagles will host Averett University on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
