UMW Women's Soccer Falls to Gettysburg, 1-0

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Gettysburg College on Saturday at the Battleground, falling to 3-1 on the season. The Eagles, who outshot the Bullets, 7-4, allowed an own goal at 61:57 for the lone score of the contest.

The Eagles led in shots, 4-2, in the opening half, but the score remained 0-0 at halftime. UMW held a 3-2 edge in shots in the second half, but the Bullets netted the lone score as a crossing ball on a free kick was deflected in by the UMW defense.

The Eagles led in corner kicks, 6-1. UMW goalie Tina Brehm made two saves, while Gettysburg's Allie Rivera had three stops.

Mary Washington will host Susquehanna University in game three of the UMW Soccer Classic on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
