UMW Women's Lacrosse Falls to #14 York, 13-6, on Sunday

The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-6 decision to visiting #14 York College of PA on Sunday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles slip tto 3-8 on the season.

Senior attacker Katie Blair opened the scoring for the Eagles, with an unassisted tally with 13:38 remaining in the first quarter. From there, the Spartans took charge, scoring twice in the first and eight times unanswered in the second quarter to take a 10-1 advantage to halftime.

UMW kept battling, and scored four straight of their own in the third quarter. Bridget Crowley netted one score at 12:49, and added another at 9:43, to start the rally, and Victoria Mueller added one score at 6:30, and Blair added another on a Crowley assist at 4:36.

The Spartans regained momentum in the fourth with three straight goals, before Crowley capped the scoring with 3:38 remaining.

York led in shots, 36-29, and won 16 of 24 draw controls. UMW goalkeeper Cailyn Tripp made 12 saves on the day.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they host Bridgewater College for senior night starting at 6:00 p.m.
