#7 UMW Women's Lacrosse Tops Randolph-Macon, 16-7, to Improve to 4-0

Senior attacker Julia Albert scored five goals and junior Paige Haskins added four goals to lead the seventh-ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 16-7 victory at Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday afternoon in Ashland, Va. The Eagles improve to 4-0 on the season.

Haskins opened with the game's first goal, at 26:25. The Yellow Jackets tied the score at 25:00, but the Eagles responded with four straight goals to take a 5-1 lead. Haskins scored on an Allison Davis assist with 19:41 left, and Albert followed at 17:57. Kennedy King scored with 10:22 remaining on a Savannah Boyd assist, and Haskins scored her third of the day with 9:35 remaining on a Mackenzie Maguire pass.

After the Yellow Jackets cut into the deficit with a score, UMW scored eight straight goals to take control. Lockwood scored on a Maguire assist with 8:32 showing on the clock, kickstarting a run that included goals from Maguire with 7:25 left, Haskins with 6:48, Boyd (6:13), and a pair of Albert scores to close the half with an 11-2 lead.

Davis opened the second half with a score with 28:21 left, followed by a Hope Lockwood goal with 26:44 remaining. The Yellow Jackets then scored three straight, before the Eagles answered with three of their own, including a pair from Albert and one from Morgan Shorts. The Yellow Jackets closed the game with the final two scores.

The Eagles led in shots, 32-21, while RMC led in draw controls, 14-11. Sophomore Rylie Cole had four draw controls to pace UMW. Senior goalie Hanna Ashby had eight saves in 60 minutes of action in goal.

UMW will return to action on February 6 when they visit 10th ranked Franklin & Marshall College at 4:00 p.m.
