#16 UMW Women's Lacrosse Falls at #8 York, 10-6, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team fell at York College on Saturday, 10-6. The Eagles drop to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

In the first half, York scored four goals before the Eagles found the net twice in the final 2:14 when Sabrina Elliot and Allison Davis each converted on a free position shot.

York opened the second half with three unanswered to take a 7-2 lead, but Mackenzie Maguire found the net to cut the deficit to 7-3. The two teams traded goals for the remainder of the game, with Maguire and Kate Smucker scoring on free position shots. Smucker scored again for the Eagles with seven seconds left in the game to bring the final score to 10-6.  

York led in ground balls, 16-6, and in shots, 26-13. Hanna Ashby record 10 saves in goal for the Eagles, while the York goalies combined for four.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday at 4:00 pm as they travel to Christopher Newport.
