Sophomore Mackenzie Maguire scored six goals to lead the University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 15-2 victory over Lynchburg College on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

Maguire started the offense early, scoring 46 seconds into the game, and added another on an Emily Mott with 18:25 remaining in the first. She completed the natural hat trick at 17:46 unassisted. Mott scored on a Kate Smucker assist 42 seconds later, and the Eagles upped their advantage to 5-0 on a Holly Hudson score with 5:05 remaining.

At 12:25, Paige Haskins scored on a Mott assist, and Maguire closed the first half with scores at 4:27 and 1:18 on an assist from Littlefield.

Maguire scored once more to open the second half at 27:37 on a Mott feed, before Lynchburg reached the scoring column with 26:52 left. Hudson followed at 20:32, and Allison Davis scored a minute later at 19:38.

The Eagle lead advanced to 12-1 on a Nikki Lind goal with 14:22 left, and Kelsey Vincent followed with a goal at 12:30 on a free position shot. Smucker scored on a free position shot with 8:35 to go. Katherine Lambert scored with 7:15 on the clock to advance the lead to 15-1, before the Hornets scored with 1:04 left to cap the scoring.

Mott had a goal and three assists for UMW, and Hudson scored twice in addition to Maguire's big day.

The Eagles led in shots, 26-9, and in ground balls, 32-26. UMW had 13 draw controls to six for LC. Hanna Ashby had two saves in 30 minutes and Jacquelyn Albanese had four and Kelsey Welsh one in splitting time in the second half.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Randolph-Macon College at 4 p.m.
