LYNCHBURG, VA - Senior goalie Cara Mulligan from Washington & Lee University earned Player of the Year honors Thursday with the release of the Virginia All-State College Division Women’s Lacrosse Team. MK Geratowski from Randolph-Macon College was voted the Coach of the Year while Virginia Wesleyan College’s Megan Schallock took home the Rookie of the Year award.
Mulligan, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year, earned First Team All-Chesapeake Region and Third Team All-America laurels by the IWLCA. She was also named to the ODAC All-Tournament team. Mulligan registered 449 career saves, which is the fifth-most in program history. She recorded a goal-against average of 7.43 and stopped 103 shots in 2015.
Geratowski, the 2015 ODAC Coach of the Year, won the Hugh Stephens Coach of the Year Award as top coach at R-MC. The Yellow Jackets tied the program record with 14 victories, losing 8-7 in the ODAC title game at W&L. Randolph-Macon led the ODAC with 13.94 goals and 5.72 assists per game.
Schallock earned the ODAC Rookie of the Year award and was a member of the all-conference and all-state first team squads and all-region second team. She led the conference with 72 goals scored, ranking ninth in the country and was second in the ODAC with 77 points and third with 104 draw controls.
The 11 first-team honorees include a diverse group of schools, as eight institutions are represented, headlined by W&L, Christopher Newport University and the University of Mary Washington with two each.
