UMW Women's Lacrosse Falls at #10 Salisbury, 16-3, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-3 decision at #10 Salisbury on Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles slip to 6-4 on the season.

Salisbury jumped ahead early, scoring five goals in the opening nine minutes to take a 5-0 lead. Senior Maggie Nunn scored for the Eagles on a Holly Hudson assist with 11:31 to play, and cut the deficit to 5-1. The Sea Gulls then scored five straight to close the half with a 10-1 advantage.

After the Sea Gulls scored twice to open the second half, the Eagles connected for back to back goals, with Corinne Wiederkehr scoring with 14:24 left in the second, and Hudson following with 12:28 to play. Salisbury closed out the contest with four goals for the 16-3 win.

Salisbury led in shots, 26-12, and in ground balls, 16-1. Taylor Paige had three saves in 49 minutes, and Kelsey Welsh added one in 11 minutes for the Eagles.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Christopher Newport University at 4:00 p.m.
