UMW's Jenna Petrucelli Named CAC Player of the Week

Mary Washington senior Jenna Petrucelli (Cranbury, NJ/Peddie School), Salisbury senior Shannon Carta (Annapolis, Md./South River) and Marymount sophomore Tylar Abrams (Laurel, Md./Catholic HS of Baltimore) were honored as the CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for March 31, 2014. Petrucelli was named the CAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after tallying 12 goals and 10 draw controls in a 1-1 week for the Eagles. Petrucelli led Mary Washington to a 17-10 victory over Randolph-Macon with seven goals, one assist and eight draw controls, before scoring five times in a loss to top-ranked Salisbury. Carta earned CAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week accolades after recording a team-high eight points in two wins for the Sea Gulls. Carta recorded four goals and four assists in wins over No. 12 Colby and Mary Washington, while adding three ground balls. Against Colby, Carta sealed the victory with a free-position goal late in regulation. Abrams was honored as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after posting two double-digit save efforts in a 1-1 week for the Saints. Abrams opened the week with 12 saves and a 54.5 save percentage in a win over Goucher, and wrapped up the week with a career-high 18 saves and a 69.2 save percentage in a loss to 10th-ranked York.
