#13 UMW Women's Lax Falls at #17 York, 17-11


The 13th ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-11 decision at 17th ranked York College on Saturday, falling to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

The first half saw the two offenses trade punches, as neither team led by more than two, with york scoring with 16 seconds remaining to take an 8-7 advantage to halftime. The Spartans scored the first four goals of the second half to take a 12-7, and never looked back.

York led in shots, 27-17, and had an 18-12 lead in draw controls. The Spartans went 7-7 on free position shots in the game. Mary Washington was led by Keller Torrey's three goals and Allie Kimmelman's four assists. Catherine Kennedy added two goals and one assist for UMW.

Kathryn Stiltz had seven saves in goal for the Eagles. Katie Mastropaolo had three ground balls and two draw controls for UMW.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host \#20 Stevenson University at 4:00 p.m.
