#19 UMW Women's Lacrosse Tops Frostburg, 23-11


Junior Lauren Callison (Stevensville, Md., Kent Island) and sophomore Keller Torrey (Roswell, Ga., Centennial) each scored nine points to lead the University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 23-11 Capital Athletic Conference victory over visiting Frostburg State University on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 10-6 on the season, and 6-2 in CAC play.

Callison had seven goals and two assists for the Eagles, with Torrey adding four goals and five assists. Junior Catherine Kennedy (Baltimore, Md., Baltimore Lutheran) had four goals and four assists for the Eagles, while Allie Kimmelman (Burke, Va., Robinson) recorded a team-high six assists.

The Eagles raced out to a 12-5 halftime advantage, led by Callison's four scores. In the second half, Katie Wallis, Kennedy, Kimmelman, Torrey, and Callison provided the Eagle offense as UMW outscored the Bobcats, 11-7, in the final 30 minutes.

In all the Eagles led in shots, 41-19, and in ground balls, 19-15. Sophomore Kathryn Stiltz (Marietta, Ga., Walton) had three saves for the Eagles, who also saw senior Erin Murphy (Virginia Beach, Va., Bishop Sullivan) win five draw controls and score once on senior day.

The Eagles will host Roanoke College at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the regular season finale.
