#17 UMW Women's Lax Falls to #12 Catholic, 12-8
The 17th ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team fell to 12th ranked Catholic University on Monday at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 7-5 on the season.

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-1 lead, as junior All-American Catherine Kennedy (Baltimore, Md., Baltimore Lutheran) scored two goals to open the game, and Allie Kimmelman (Burke, Va., Robinson) added another with 12:59 left in the first half. The Cardinals scored the next four goals to take a 5-3 lead with less than four minutes left in the half.

The Eagles were able to pull even before halftime, as Kimmelman scored with 1:04 left, and Keller Torrey (Roswell, Ga., Centennial) added another with 35 seconds remaining. The score stood at 5-5 at intermission.

The Cardinals scored the first three goals of the second half to take the lead for good. Lauren Callison (Stevensville, Md., Kent Island) and Torrey each scored to cut the deficit to 8-7 with 20:15 left. The Cardinals scored the next four goals to put the game away. Kimmelman scored the game's final goal with 9:01 remaining.

Catholic led in shots, 31-21, and in ground balls, 27-21. Junior goalie Danielle Guigli (Wellesley, Mass., Wellesley) had eight saves in the Eagle goal.

Mary Washington will host Marymount University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
