The Eagles jumped ahead by scoring the first four goals of the game, including two from senior Katie Wallis (Cypress, Texas, Cy-Creek). but Oneonta roared back, scoring five of the next six goals to tie the score at 5-5 with 13:40 left in the first half. Torrey scored twice in the final 11 minutes as the Eagles outscored Oneonta, 4-2, to take a 9-7 halftime advantage.
The second half saw Oneonta come out swinging, tying the score at 9-9 with 23 minutes left. But the Eagles were able to score the next five goals to put the game away, led by two from Torrey.
The Eagles were outshot, 32-24, and saw junior Danielle Guigli (Wellesley, Mass., Wellesley) record 11 saves.
UMW will face Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Croix.
