No. 20 Mary Washington Women's Basketball Falls to Randolph-Macon, 60-52

On Sunday, the Mary Washington women's basketball team (4-1) fell in overtime to Randolph-Macon, 60-52, in Ashland, Va.

Despite trailing for most of regulation, the Eagles went on a 9-1 run over the final five minutes before Sydney Sherman nailed a 3-pointer to tie the score at 47 with 1.3 seconds remaining.

In overtime, Mary Washington was outscored by eight points before the final horn sounded.

Sherman led all scorers with 23 points on 11-of-19 shooting, while Jordan Carpenter grabbed a game-high 17 board and scored 11 points.

On defense, UMW held RMC to a 20-of-55 mark from the field (36.4%). The Eagles, meanwhile, were 21-of-68 from the floor and recorded half of their points from inside the paint. Too, they outrebounded the Yellow Jackets by 19, 54-35.

Next, Mary Washington heads down to Averett on Tuesday night -- tip-off is set for 5 p.m. in Danville, Va.
