The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team fell at Frostburg St., 54-40, on Wednesday evening in Frostburg, Md. The Eagles are now 6-6 on the season, and 0-1 in the CAC. Tory Martin led the team with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Jordan Pamlanye chipped in 12 points. 

The Bobcats got out to a fast start as they scored the first six points of the game just 3:34 in. Over the next 5:28, UMW scored the next seven points to take the lead 7-6. Pamlanye scored hit four free throws, Alannah Miller knocked down a jumper, and Meghan Comer made a free throw during that span. Frostburg St. knocked down a three-pointer before the quarter ended to take a 9-7 lead.

FSU opened the second quarter with seven straight points to stretch their lead out to nine, 16-7. Martin put an end to that run as she made a layup with 7:11 to play. Martin kept it going as she knocked down a free throw and then made two layups in a row to put the Eagles down seven, 21-14, with 4:37 remaining. The Bobcats stretched their lead to 15 with 1:44 left. Pamlanye scored the last four points of the half as she made a layup and knocked down two free throws with no time remaining to put the game at 29-18.

UMW was the team to get out to a fast start in the third quarter as they scored the first five points on a made layup by Emily Thompson, a layup by Martin and a free throw by Thora Gibbs to pull them within six, 29-23. The defense was strong for the Eagles as they didn't give up a single point over the first 6:29 of the quarter. Pamlanye made a free throw and Comer made a jumper with 1:14 to go that kept the Eagles within eight, 34-26. After a jumper from the Bobcats, Martin knocked down two free throws with five seconds left and that put the game at 36-28 going to the fourth quarter.

The Eagles went on a 7-2 run to start the fourth quarter and pull within three, 38-35, with 6:38 remaining. FSU knocked down two straight three-pointers to push their lead back to nine, 44-35, with 5:10 to play. UMW scored just five points from there and the Bobcats closed out the game.

Faith St. Clair pulled down five rebounds and dished out three assists, and Thompson scored five points.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they will host CNU at 1 p.m.
