Senior All-America center Brianne Comden scored 22 points in leading the 15th ranked University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 66-41 victory at Wesley College on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. The Eagles improve to 22-3 on the season, and will receive a bye in next week's Capital Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Eagles jumped on top early, outscoring the Wolverines, 19-9, in the first quarter. Senior Megan Green opened the proceedings with a three pointer, and five points from Comden put UMW on top, 10-3, with 3:21 left in the first. Ashley Evans scored a pair of baskets, and Kendall Prker added a three pointer in the final minute to give the Eagles a 10-point cushion.

In the second, both offenses struggled for points, as the Eagles outscored the hosts, 9-6. After an opening three pointer from Wesley, the Eagles stifled the Wolverines defensively, allowing just three points in the final 9:23. Comden scored a pair of baskets and Parker added another triple in a 9-0 run that put the Eagles on top, 28-12, with 5:01 remaining before halftime, and the Eagles led, 28-15, at intermission.

The teams traded points back and forth throughout the third, with Comden pacing the Eagle attack with nine points.

UMW pulled away with a dominant fourth quarter by outscoring Wesley, 22-7. A 12-0 run, sparked by four points each from Meghan Comer and Elizabeth Dofflemyer, put the Eagles up, 58-36, with 2:39 left, and two more buckets from Dofflemyer put the matter to rest down the stretch.

Comden made 9-16 shots from the fiel en route to 22 points, while Comer added 11 on 3-4 shooting from the floor and 5-6 from the free throw line. Dofflemyer also reached double figures with 10 points. Green had five points, seven rebounds, and six assists, while Taylor Barton tied Comden for team honors with niine rebounds, and also added four assists.

The Eagles dominated on the boards, with a 45-33 advantage.

UMW will advance to the CAC Tournament next week as the two seed, and host the winner of Tuesday's third seeded Marymount University and sixth seeded Salisbury University matchup on Thursday at Rosner Arena at 7:00 p.m.
