Sophomore guard McKenzie Jenkins scored 17 points, going a perfect 5-5 from three-point range in tying the shcool record for accuracy in leading the seventh ranked University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 77-49 win over St. Mary's College on Wednesday evening in the Ron Rosner Arena. The Eagles improve to 21-1 overall and 14-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

St. Mary's knocked down a three-pointer in the opening minute, but the Eagles used a balanced attack to score 11 straight to lead 11-3 with 3:02 left in the first. St. Mary's scored three to cut the deficit to five, but the Eagles ended the half with five straight, including a half-court buzzer beater from Jenkins.

The Eagles stayed hot in the second, as Jenkins drilled another three-pointer in the first seven seconds of play. Taylor Barton knocked down a free throw before Jenkins hit another three to put the Eagles up 23-6 with 8:21 left in the half.

St. Mary's followed with a 6-5 run to cut the lead to 28-12, but Megan Comer responded with a four-point play to push the lead to 20 with 3:38 left in the half. The next 30 seconds saw the Eagles push the lead to 35-12 off a Kendall Parker free throw and Kelsey Dean jumper.

St. Mary's nearly doubled their point total in the final two minutes, but Jenkins and Megan Green each hit a three to give the Eagles a 41-22 lead at the break.

The Eagles started the second half scoring seven straight to push the lead to 26 at the 7:29 mark. St. Mary's cut the lead back to 20 at 51-31 with 4:47 left in the third, but the Eagles ended the quarter on an 8-2 run to go back up 26 heading into the fourth. The Eagles run was fueled by three-pointers from Jenkins and Parker, as well as a lay up from Brianne Comden.

In the fourth, the Eagles extended the lead to 31 off an Emily Thompson triple with 5:40 left in the contest. Much of the remainder of the fourth was spent at the foul line, as both teams were in the bonus early. The Eagles capped the scoring at 77-49 off a Caitlin Jensen free throw. 

Elizabeth Dofflemyer posted a double-double, scoring 10 points and adding 12 boards. Dofflemyer, Green, and Meghan Comer were all a perfect 2-2 from the three-point line.

Mary Washington shot 43.1% from the field (25-38), making 14-20 three pointers and 13-25 free throws. St. Mary's shot 24.6% from the field 15-61, making 3-21 three pointers and 16-21 free throws. The Eagles edged St. Mary's on the boards, 53-32.

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host Penn State-Harrisburg at 1:00pm in the Ron Rosner Arena.
