Parker's Career High, Ciniero's Perfect Shooting Lead UMW Women's Basketball Past Frostburg, 88-44

Freshman Kendall Parker scored a career high 22 points, and senior Caitlin Ciniero shot a perfect 7-7 from the field en route to 15 points as the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team defeated Frostburg State University, 88-44, on Wednesday night in Frostburg. The Eagles improve to 14-4 overall, and 10-1 in Capital Athletic Conference action.

The Eagles got off to a patented hot start, leading 10-2 with 16:10 left on a Megan Green jumper. Ciniero keyed the hot start with three baskets in the run. The Bobcats were able to cut the deficit to 13-11 with 12:41 remaining in the half, but UMW pushed the lead to 25-13 with 7:39 left.

After Frostburg trimmed the deficit to 10 with 5:23 remaining, the Eagles completely took over, outscoring the hosts, 17-9, until halftime to carry a 47-29 advantage into intermission.

UMW started strong in the second half as well, pushing the lead to 25 at 56-31 left on a Brianne Comden layup. The Eagles built the lead to 30, and the balanced efforts of the bench kept the lead. Every player on the roster scored at least two points.

Parker went 8-13 from the floor, including 3-8 on three pointers, and went 3-3 from the line en route to 22 points, while Ciniero was 7-7 from the field and 1-2 from the free throw line, and added seven rebounds. Comden scored 14 and added eight rebounds.

The Eagles shot 56.4% from the field (31-55), making 4-16 three pointers and going 22-31 from the free throw line. Frostburg shot 19.6% (10-51), making 4-10 three pointers, and went 20-29 from the line. UMW held an astounding 54-18 lead in rebounds.

Mary Washington will return to action on Saturday when they visit Marymount University at 2:00 p.m.
