Eagles Fall To Randolph-Macon, 82-65, on Tuesday

Ashland, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team fell to Randolph-Macon, 82-65, on Tuesday evening. The loss drops the Eagles to 2-1 on the year.

Randoplh-Macon jumped out early, but a trio of layups by Sam Partonen, Brianne Comden and Claire Haeuptle gave the Eagles a slim 6-5 advantage. The Yellow Jackets and Eagles went basket for basket following the Partonen layup, with the Yellow Jackets leading 9-8. The duo of Comden and Aby Diop gave the Eagles a 12-9 lead, their largest of the night.

After a pair of Macon free throws increased the lead to ten, Partonen tried to rally the troops. Sam hit a couple free throws, and nailed a three to cut the lead down to five, but it was not enough. The Yellow Jackets went on a run of their own, getting their lead back to seven.
