UMW Women's Basketball Rolls Past Wesley, 65-26

The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team limited Wesley College to 13 points in each half, and sophomore Caitlin Ciniero led the way with 10 points off the bench as the Eagles topped the Wolverines, 65-26, on Wednesday in Dover, Del. The Eagles improve to 17-6 overall and 8-2 in Capital Athletic Conference action.

The outcome was never in doubt, as the Eagles scored the first 10 points of the game, and led, 24-4, with 10:41 remaining. The lead grew to 35-13 by halftime.

In the second, UMW scored the first six points, and quickly built the lead to 40 at 57-17 with 8:51 left. The Wolverines scored the final seven points to cut the deficit to 65-26.

Mary Washington saw Ciniero go 5-8 from the floor for a team-high 10 points, as nine players scored at least five and every player played at least 12 minutes. UMW shot 40% from the floor (24-59) while the Wolverines were limited to 20% (11-55). UMW led in rebounding, 52-36.

The Eagles will return to action next Wednesday when they host York College in the final regular season home game of the year, starting at 6:00 p.m.
