A Carol Dye layup and a pair of three pointers from Partonen and Amanda Witmer quickly pushed the lead to 16-6, and a layup form Brieneke Matthes and five straight points from sophomore Claire Haeuptle ran the scoring run to 15-0, giving the Eagles a 23-6 lead with 9:30 to go. Salisbury used three straight jumpers from Julia McLaughlin to spur a run cutting the deficit to just six at 27-21, but the Eagles worked the lead back to 11 by halftime on a Matthes three pointer.

Salisbury was able to get back into the game with a run starting the second half, making 9-10 free throws to cut the deficit to 44-43 midway through the half. After fourpoints from Aubrey Howland and a basket from Aby Diop, UMW led by seven, only to see the Sea Gulls cut the deficit back to one at 50-49 with 7:05 left.

From that point, Partonen scored eight of the Eagles' next 10 points, and scored six in a run that saw UMW leading, 64-53, with 2:17 remaining. The Eagles sank 9-10 free throws down the stretch for the 74-60 win.
