#7 UMW Women's Basketball Tops Wesley, 97-47, to Cap Undefeated Regular Season

Senior guard Jenna McRae scored a game-high 21 points, and seniors Katie Wimmer and Claire Brooks each added 17 to lead the seventh-ranked University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 97-47 win at Wesley College on Saturday, capping the Eagles' undefeated run through the regular season with a perfect 25-0 record. UMW finishes the season undefeated for the second time in the past seven years.

The Eagles jumped out to a 48-23 halftime advantage, and outscored the hosts, 49-24, in the second half. UMW shot 52.4% from the floor for the day (33-63), including 11-23 three pointers, and made 20-29 free throws. Wesley shot 30.8% (16-52) and made seven of 19 three pointers.

McRae shot 9-12 from the floor, including 2-3 three pointers, and added one free throw. Wimmer was 6-10, making all three of her three point attempts, and added seven assists, six rebounds, and five steals, surpassing the 200-steal plateau in her career. Brooks went 3-3 from the floor and a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line.

Mary Washington will be the top seed in next week's Capital Athletic Conference Tournament, and will host either Marymount University or St. Mary's College in a CAC semifinal on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.
