UMW Women's Basketball Tops Roanoke; Wimmer Named to All-Tourney Team

Junior guard Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va., James Madison) turned in her second outstanding effort in as many days to lead the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 70-61 win over Roanoke College on Saturday in Ashland, Va. Wimmer, named to the Randolph-Macon All-Tournament team, had 19 points on 7-10 shooting with seven assists and five rebounds.

In addition, UMW saw junior guard Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale) score 15 points with six rebounds and sophomore center Carol Dye (Springfield, Va., Lake Braddock) score 14 points with four boards and three assists. Rachel Martin (Annandale, Va., Bishop Ireton) added eight for the Eagles.

UMW shot a blistering 57% from the floor in the first half en route to 47% shooting for the game, and also connected on 10-11 free throws in the game.

The Eagles will host Shenandoah University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
