#14 UMW Women's Basketball Falls at Randolph-Macon, 60-54


The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team dropped a 60-54 decision at Randolph-Macon College on Friday evening. The Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season.

The Eagles fell behind early, trailing by as many as 15 points with 12:32 remaining in the first half, but clawed back to cut the deficit to four at 32-28 at halftime. The Eagles assumed the lead midway through the half, and led by as many as five with 6:20 remaining. But the Yellow Jackets forced eight UMW turnovers in the final 6:20, while the Eagles were held without a field goal during that span.

Junior guard Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va., James Madison) led the Eagles with 13 points and seven rebounds before fouling out, while junior guards Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale) and Rachel Martin (Annandale, Va., Bishop Ireton) each added 11 points. McRae added eight boards for the Eagles.

Mary Washington will face Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon at Randolph-Macon.
