UMW Women's Basketball Runs Win Streak to 12; Tops York, 65-38
The University of Mary Washington continued to be one of the top defensive teams in the nation, as the Eagles defeated York College, 65-38, on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action. The win clinches the top seed in the CAC Tournament for the Eagles, who improve to 18-5 overall and 13-1 in CAC action.

UMW jumped out to a 30-14 halftime advantage, thanks to 46% shooting in the opening half while, York was limited to 25%. Junior guard Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va., James Madison) and freshman guard Courtney Overholt (Centreville, Va., Flint Hill) led the Eagles with seven points apiece during the first 20 minutes, as the Eagles forced 14 York turnovers in the first half.

In the second, the Eagles shot better, at 48%, while the Spartans checked in at 29%, as the Eagles cruised to the 27-point win. Junior guard Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale) led the Eagles with 13 points and added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Wimmer scored 11 while dishing out four assists. York was led by Jamie Sapp's eight points.

The Eagles will visit Stevenson University on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in another CAC contest.
