UMW Women's Basketball Tops Hood, 58-21
Junior guards Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale) and Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va., James Madison) combined for 24 points to lead the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 58-21 win over Hood College on Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action at Goolrick Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 17-5 overall and 12-1 in CAC play, and extend their win streak to 11 straight.

Mary Washington jumped ahead early, with Wimmer scoring the Eagles' first six points. After Hood cut the deficit to 6-5, UMW would score the next 11 points over five minutes to up the lead to 17-5, and led by as many as 21 at 31-10 before taking a 31-12 halftime advantage.

The second half saw the Eagles leave off where they did defensively, limiting the Blazers to nine points on 4-24 shooting. UMW upped the lead to 30 at 42-12 with 16:02 left, and ended up with a 37-point win.

Wimmer led the Eagles with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while McRae scored 11 points and added nine rebounds. Freshman Sam Partonen (Burke, Va., Robinson) had five assists and three steals as well. Hood was led by Emily Maerz's nine points.

Mary Washington will host York College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in another CAC contest.
