UMW Women's Basketball Slows Down Marymount, 45-21
The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team held Marymount University to just four second half points, as the Eagles gained a two-game lead in the Capital Athletic Conference standings with a 45-21 win over the Saints on Monday night in Arlington. The Eagles limited Marymount to 19.6% shooting and 27 turnovers in the contest.

Neither team came out strong out of the gate, as the score stood at 19-17 at halftime. Marymount led by as many as seven points in the first frame, at 8-1, but the Eagles chipped away in time to hold a two-point cushion at intermission.

The second half saw the Eagles pull away by holding the Saints scoreless in the first 10 minutes of the half, as junior guard Rachel Martin (Annandale, Va., Bishop Ireton) hit a big three to put the Eagles on their way. In all, the Eagles outscored the Saints, 26-4, in the second frame.

UMW was led by Martin and junior guard Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale), who eacxh scored nine points. Martin had five rebounds to lead the Eagles, while McRae added four. Marymount was led by Beth Wiggins and Maame Amponsah's eight points each.

The Eagles will venture out of league play on Wednesday night when they host Ferrum College at 7:00 p.m.
