Dye, Wimmer Lead UMW Women's Basketball Past Wesley, 64-58
Sophomore center Carol Dye (Springfield, Va., Lake Braddock) scored a season-high 16 points and junior guard Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va., James Madison) added 16 points of her own as the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team defeated Wesley College, 64-58, on Saturday in Dover, Del. The Eagles improve to 10-5 overall, and 6-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

The Eagles shot very well on the day, netting 29-60 shots (48%), and led, 30-27, at halftime. The Wolverines led by as many as seven in the first half, at 21-14 with 8:08 to play. But UMW made an 8-0 run over the next two minutes with four different players scoring to take the lead. The Eagles built the lead to six before settling on a three-point halftime advantage.

UMW edged the hosts, 34-31, in the second half, building the lead to as many as 17 points. Dye added six rebounds and four steals for UMW, while Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale) had 10 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Wimmer shot 7-12 from the field, while Dye was 8-14. Wesley saw five players play 30-plus minutes, with the Eagle bench outscoring the hosts, 8-0, in the game.

Mary Washington will visit Hood College on Wednesday night in another CAC contest starting at 6:00 p.m.
