UMW Women's Basketball Tops York, 75-49, in CAC Play

Sophomore guard Rachel Martin (Annandale, Va., Bishop Ireton) scored a game-high 20 points off the bench to lead three Eagles in double figures as the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 75-49 victory over York College of Pa. on Wednesday night at Goolrick Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 13-3 overall, and 8-0 in CAC action.

Sophomore guard Katie Wimmer (Vienna, Va., James Madison) scored 15 points, and sophomore guard Jenna McRae (Springfield, Va., Annandale) added 13 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Freshman Carol Dye (Springfield, Va., Lake Braddock) had a game-high 11 rebounds, as UMW held a 59-34 advantage on the boards.

The Eagles shot 37.7% from the floor, and canned 11-12 free throws in the game. York shot just 29.1% from the field, and made 16 field goals in the contest. York was led by Jamie Polan's 15 points.

Martin shot 6-14 from the field, including 4-9 on three pointers, and also grabbed seven rebounds in 23 minutes of action.

Mary Washington will visit Wesley College next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
