UMW Track & Field Competes at CNU Captains Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Christopher Newport Captains Invitational this weekend.

On the women's side, Jessica Oberlies finished third in the 3000 meters at 11:52, followed by teammates Grace Pippin in fourth at 11:55, Cameron Rico in fifth at 12:43.17, and Kendra White in sixth at 12:43.28. Sophia redmond finished fourth in the 400 meters at 59.99, and Faith Jones gained three top-ten finishes, taking seventh in the hammer throw at 85 feet, four inches, eighth in the discus at 86 feet, 11 inches, and ninth in the javelin at 52 feet, nine inches.

For the men, Jacob Lohr took first in the 3000 meters at 8:55, while Jimmy Volk took fourth at 9:24, and Michael Dye sixth at 9:36. Ethan Young took second in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.29, and Justin Ford was third in the 100 meters at 11:03. Ashton Schultz finished second in the 3000 steeplechase at 10:26.61. Jacinto Jones II was fourth in the 200 meters at 22.06, while Justin Ford was 10th at 22.66. Mohammed Ahmed took sixth in the 400 meters at 50.98, and Lohr gained 10th in the 800 meters at 2:02.38.

The Eagles will be back in action on May 3-4 at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Salisbury, Md.
