UMW Track & Field Hosts Day One of C2C Championships

Serving as hosts, the University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams competed on day one of the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.

On the women's side, Maddie Phillips finished fourth in the pole vault, with a leap of 2.68 meters, and Faith Jones finished tied for fourth in the shot put, at 9.22 meters, and took seventh in the hammer throw at 26.05 meters. Haileigh Byrd finished second in the long jump, at 5.38 meters, and also finished fourth in the 100 meter prelims, where Sophia Redmond finished second. 

For the men, Aidan Smagh finished fifth in the long jump at 6.63 meters. Ethan Young finished second in the 110 meter hurdle prelims and Reese Creadon took fourth. 

The championships will continue on Sunday.
