UMW Track & Field Competes at Weather-Shortened JHU/Loyola Invite

The University of Mary Washington outdoor track & field teams compete at the John Hopkins/Loyola Invitational in Baltimore, MD. this Saturday.

The men's side saw Patrick Murphy run a 15:33.40 5k PR for 10th place and Jacinto Jones II flew through in a 49.29 second 400m finish for 3rd place. Samuel Gowe also placed top 10 for the Javelin throwing 35.48 meters.

The Eagle women had a 4th place finish in the 100 hurdles by Haileigh Byrd with a time of 15.53 seconds. Sophia Redmond also placed impressively at 5th in the 400m running 59.58 seconds. For the field events Hannah Unger got 7th in the High Jump leaping over 1.50 meters.

Soon after the 400 meter race Baltimore was hit by a storm and halted the meet. Forcing the Eagles to return home.

However, they will be back at home on May 6th and 7th for the Coast-to-Coast conference championship meet.
