UMW Track & Field Hosts Battleground Relays

The University of Mary Washington outdoor track and field teams hosted the Battleground Relays on Saturday, and came away with several top results.

On the men's side, Nick Onorato finished first in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:10.55. The 4x100 meter relay of Jacinto Jones II, Reese Creadon, Matthew Rose, and Ian Chapman finished first at 43.30, Jones won the 400 meters at 48.74, Creadon finished second in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.42, with Ethan Young taking third at 15.56, and Jacob Lohr won the 3000 meters at 9:09.07, with Patrick Murphy taking second. The 4x400 relay of Aidan Girard, Luke Blair, Michael Dye, and Aidan Kimener took second at 3:33.66.

Samuel Gowe won the long jump at 6.83 meters, with Aidan Smagh taking fourth at 6.35 meters. 

On the women's side, Jessica Oberlies won the 300 meter steeplechase at 13:17.35, with Katherine Armstrong taking third at 13:39.37. Sophia Redmond won the 400 meters at 59.19, and Haileigh Byrd won the 100 meter hurdles at 15.56.

Maddie Phillips was second in the pole vault at 2.75 meters, while Redmond tied for fourth at 2.45 meters. Hannah Unger finished third in the high jump at 1.45 meters.

The Eagles will return to action on April 14 and 15 at Lynchburg College.
