UMW Men 3rd, Women 5th After Day One at C2C Indoor Track Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's indoor track and field team stands in third place after six events, and the women are in fifth after four events at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Newport News, Va.

The highlight of the evening came on the men's side, as senior Rajai Walton wonthe long jump, with a leap of 22 feet, 6.25 inches, and junior Samuel Gowe took second, at 21 feet, 4.75 inches. Walton also finished second in the high jump, at six feet, five inches, and the men's distance medley relay of Nicholas Onorato, Jacinto Jones II, Aidan Kimener, and Luke Blair finished second, at 10:54.26.

On the women's side, senior Haileigh Byrd finished secod in the long jump, at 16 feet, seven inches. 

The meet will conclude on Saturday in Newport News.
