UMW Indoor Track & Field Competes at Liberty Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Liberty University Invitational on Saturday in Lynchburg, Va.

For the men, senior Rajai Walton finished second in the long jump, at 22 feet, 9.25 inches, and Samuel Gowe was eighth at 21 feet, 2.5 inches. Walton was fifth in the triple jump, at 45 feet, 7.75 inches. Sophomore Jacob Lohr finished fifth in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:41.43, and senior Patrick Murphy was seventh, at 15:46.26. Freshman Jacinto Jones II was ninth in the 400 meters, at 51.09.

The women saw Haileigh Byrd finish sixth in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.55 seconds, and finished 12th in the triple jump at 33 feet, 10 inches. Maddie Phillips took 11th in the pole vault, at nine feet, 0.25 inches, Hannah Unger tied for ninth in the high jump at four feet, nine inches.

Both teams will be back in action on February 17-18 at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Newport News, Va.
